Harlaxton was the best fit.

What made you choose to study at Harlaxton?

I chose Harlaxton because of its unique characteristics and proximity to a major travel hub for Europe—London. Being located in an English manor truly makes the Harlaxton experience special. The variety of courses and local travel opportunities made Harlaxton the best fit for me.

Did you have a life-changing experience during your time at Harlaxton?

My life has truly been changed because of my time abroad at Harlaxton. Traveling provided an insight to different cultures, and the inevitable mishaps of traveling caused me to gain a wide basis of life skills I can apply in many different ways. The friendships and bonds you make at Harlaxton are unlike any other, and those people leave a lasting mark on you as a person.

Based on your experience, what makes the Harlaxton program unique?

Harlaxton is incredibly integrated into the community in which it is located. The manor is a part of the town, and they welcome you with open arms. Not to mention the fact that you get to live in an old English manor! The building itself has such a backstory and has provided a home to students for decades. There’s an indescribable magic to it.

How has the manor become your second home?

The people that work and live at the manor truly make it feel like home. Traveling with peers, professors, and their families really creates a sense of a community as you are all sleeping, working, and living in the same halls. Seeing your professors at breakfast, or at lunch after returning from a weekend of travels really creates a bond and a genuine interest in each other’s lives. The house competitions and student life activities really bring everyone together throughout the course of a semester. I would give anything to go back to the manor one more time!

What advice do you have for future Harlaxton students?

I know it’s scary, but dive in head first. This is a truly immersive experience that will be the time of your life. Do not let fear or apprehension take that away from you!
